Reward for arrest of baby’s rapist-killer raised to P.2 M
MANILA, Philippines - The reward for the arrest of the suspect in the rape-slaying of an 11-month-old baby in San Juan City last August was raised to P200,000 yesterday.
A concerned citizen offered an additional P100,000 bounty to speed up the apprehension of Arnel Tumbali, alias Digoy, San Juan Mayor Guia Gomez said.
The city government earlier offered P100,000 reward for information leading to Tumbali’s arrest.
The local government released the suspect’s photograph and asked the public to report his presence to the authorities.
Superintendent Jose Rivera, San Juan police officer-in-charge, said they have filed rape with homicide charges against Tumbali with the city prosecutor’s office.
Rivera said the suspect was last seen in Mandaluyong City.
Tumbali was caught on CCTV snatching the victim, Geralyn Cortez, from her sleeping parents hours prior to the discovery of her body on Aug. 1.
