MANILA, Philippines - Two alleged robbers were arrested in separate incidents in Malabon and Valenzuela yesterday.
Allen Mallari, 28, of La Cuerta Compound in Marulas, Valenzuela, flagged down the victim’s taxi at around 2 a.m. and reportedly robbed the driver at knifepoint, police said.
Mallari allegedly took the driver’s earnings for the day, which amounted to P4,500, and fled. He was caught in a follow-up operation. Police officers recovered the knife but not the money.
Meanwhile, a man was arrested for allegedly robbing a couple in Malabon yesterday.
James Michael Sta. Maria, 20, was caught after police saw him riding a motorcycle hours after he and his three companions reportedly robbed Rogelio and Vilma Garcia.
The victims said they were walking along Engineering Road at around 3 p.m. when the suspects, who were on two motorcycles, blocked their path and took their jewelry and P17,000.
Rogelio saw the plate number of one of the motorcycles and reported the incident to the police. Recovered from Sta. Maria were the jewelry, several bullets and a sachet of shabu.
