Witness says cop killed Pastor

Edu Punay - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - The Department of Justice (DOJ)’s investigation on the murder of international car racer Ferdinand “Enzo” Pastor took another twist after two witnesses surfaced yesterday to refute the retraction made by the self-confessed gunman.

Paolo Salazar and Alvin Nidua submitted their affidavits to the DOJ to counter the retraction made by PO2 Edgar Angel. They were accompanied by Pastor’s parents, Tomas and Remy.

Salazar was with Pastor when they were ambushed in Quezon City.

He positively identified Angel as the gunman.

Prior to the ambush, Salazar said he heard Pastor talking to his wife, Daliah, over the phone about the route they would take to the Clark International Speedway.

Pastor’s parents also submitted a list of phone calls showing that Daliah talked several times with Domingo de Guzman, the alleged mastermind in the killing, on the night their son was killed.

Nidua, on the other hand, is a supposed hired gun who was first offered to kill Pastor. He claimed that the offer was made by a certain barangay chairman Borbie Rivera of Tramo in Pasay City and a certain Inspector Oco.

Nidua said the deal did not push through because they could not afford to pay him P500,000.

Angel earlier retracted, saying policemen threatened to implicate him in other unsolved crimes in Metro Manila if he would not admit to Pastor’s murder.

De Guzman and Daliah have been summoned to appear before the DOJ on Oct. 6 to answer the charges.
