Ai Ai’s abuse case vs husband junked

MANILA, Philippines - The Quezon City prosecutor’s office formally junked the abuse charges filed by Ai Ai de las Alas against her former husband, months after the comedian said she is no longer interested in pursuing the case.

In a two-page resolution released yesterday, assistant city prosecutor Hector Buenaluz Jr. said there is lack of sufficient basis to establish probable cause against Jed Alvin Salang, whom De las Alas accused of violating Republic Act 9262, the anti-violence against women and their children law.

De las Alas said her allegations against Salang last year rose out of a misunderstanding and miscommunication. She accused him of trying to make a sex video involving her public and beating her up on at least three occasions in 2013.

The prosecutor said De las Alas presented neither a video nor medico-legal reports to substantiate her allegations.
