The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - A fire hit a restaurant at Ali Mall in Cubao, Quezon City Tuesday night.

The blaze broke out at Gerry’s Grill on the mall’s second floor at around 6 p.m., city fire marshal Superintendent Jesus Fernandez said.

An electrical short circuit in the kitchen area reportedly sparked the fire.

Fernandez said smoke was seen coming out of the restaurant ceiling.

Arson probers said the electric cord might have melted from the heat produced by the exhaust pipes.

The fire reached the third alarm before it was placed under control at past 7 p. m. It was declared out before 8 p.m.

Fernandez said the flames also damaged portions of an adjacent restaurant.

Damage to property was estimated at P1 million. No one was injured in the incident.
