Non Alquitran - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - Mayor Benjamin Abalos Jr. narrated how Mandaluyong’s programs helped it become a “tiger city” in a speech during a United Nations forum in Goyang, South Korea last week.

Abalos discussed Mandaluyong’s experience in meeting new requirements in governance and institutional development during the UN Public Service Forum, which sought to promote successful innovations that have been implemented by the public sector all over the world.

The mayor joined personalities from the academe, business and government in sharing their breakthroughs with the rest of the world.

Abalos said that during his administration, Mandaluyong received Galing Pook awards for programs such as the Garden of Life Park and Project Teach, a community-based program for underprivileged children with special needs.

He also noted that Mandaluyong was recognized as the most child-friendly and business-friendly city.

Abalos said the city government’s nutrition programs were recognized by the National Nutrition Council while the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority conferred a Kabalikat award on the city government for its manpower development and training center.
