Mystery man shoots suspected robber

MANILA, Philippines - A fleeing robbery suspect was shot and killed by an unidentified man after he allegedly snatched the bag of a jeepney passenger in Quezon City on Friday night.

Manuelito Hitungo, 28, died after being shot by the mystery gunman during the robbery along Quirino Highway in Barangay Talipapa.

Police Officer 3 Marlon dela Vega said Hitungo allegedly snatched the bag of Sherly Miralpes, who was in a jeepney at past 7 p.m.

However, the woman grappled for the possession of the bag.

During the scuffle, an unidentified man armed with a handgun arrived and intervened, prompting the suspect to stop. However, as he was about to flee, the gunman shot him, killing him on the spot.

The gunman then boarded a motorcycle, with an unknown plate number, and escaped.
