Fire hits hardware store in Alabang

MANILA, Philippines - A 40-minute fire gutted a hardware store at the Alabang public market in Muntinlupa City on Friday night.

The fire started at about 11 p.m. at the second floor of the RC San Gabriel Hardware owned by Josefina Curay, according to the Muntinlupa fire department.

The fire quickly spread throughout the hardware and reached third alarm before it was put out by responding firefighters at 11:40 p.m.

Firefighters had to use firefighting foam on the blaze as it was fueled by paint stored at the hardware’s second floor.

No injuries or fatalities were reported in the fire. Arson probers have yet to identify the source of the fire as well as estimate the cost of the damage.
