Aie Balagtas See - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - A man was shot dead after allegedly stealing a gamecock in Binondo, Manila before dawn yesterday.

The unidentified man could be between 38 and 42 years old, stood 5’6” to 5’8” tall, of medium build, wore only khaki shorts and was barefoot, Senior Police Officer 1 John Charles Duran said.

According to reports, several bystanders along Masangkay street discovered that the man stole a fighting cock on nearby Alvarado street at around 4:30 a.m.

The bystanders chased the man until he climbed up to the fourth floor of a condominium. Duran said barangay kagawad Rico Echalas asked the man to leave the condominium and surrender.

“The man refused until two gunshots were heard and the man was seen falling into the creek,” Duran said.

Authorities believed he was shot from behind because he sustained gun shot wounds in the neck and back. His killer has yet to be identified.
