MANILA, Philippines - A police officer and his nephew, also a policeman, filed charges against each other with the Manila Police District (MPD) at past midnight yesterday over a land dispute.

The MPD’s General Assignment Section, which is handling the complaints, is set to summon Senior Police Officer 1 Felipe Manlutac and Police Officer 3 Francis Manlutac next week.

Felipe is assigned at MPD Station 5, while Francis is with the Eastern Police District.

According to case investigator PO3 Jay Jacob, the two clashed between 12:05 a.m. and 1:30 a.m. yesterday.

Jacob said based on Francis’ complaint, it was past midnight when his 17-year-old son came home, telling him how Felipe allegedly punched and pointed a gun at him.

After the incident, Francis lodged a complaint before MPD-GAS.

An hour later, Felipe’s wife, Amelita, went to the MPD-GAS to file a complaint against Francis. She was accompanied by two friends.

“Allegedly, she was walking with her husband when Francis allegedly shot at them,” Jacob said.

The couple was unhurt as the bullets allegedly hit a machine by their neighbor, Godofredo Yuman, and a motorcycle owned by another police officer, according to Jacob.
