MANILA, Philippines - Six policemen are facing charges for allegedly extorting P3,000 from a woman and forcing her to have sex with one of them in exchange for the release of her partner, who was arrested for allegedly selling drugs.
Senior Police Officer 4 Anthony Carpio, SPO3 Emmanuel Bautista, SPO1 Victor Amisola, PO1 Jaycee John Galutera, PO1 Joseph Casimiro and PO1 Teodorico Arias are all assigned to the Manila Police District’s Station 6 in Sta. Ana, Manila, Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) chief Director Benjamin Magalong said.
“We have filed a case against them. The evidence against them is strong,†he said.
The CIDG chief said charges of robbery extortion, unlawful arrest, arbitrary detention and violation of the anti-graft law were filed against the six policemen.
He added that a separate case of rape was filed against Carpio.
Magalong said the case stemmed from the complaint of a woman and her partner that six policemen arrested the partner for allegedly being a drug peddler.
“The arrested suspect was brought to the police station where they ordered him to pay P50,000 in exchange for his release and dropping of the charges,†Magalong said.
He said the couple haggled until the amount was reduced to P3,000. Not contented, Carpio allegedly forced the woman to have sex with him for her partner’s release, Magalong added.
