Guard caught selling guns from QC justice hall

MANILA, Philippines - A security guard was arrested Friday afternoon after he was caught reportedly selling firearms stolen from the Quezon City justice hall’s evidence room.

Jic Muana Florentino was arrested at the Philcoa overpass on Commonwealth Avenue as he reportedly tried to sell a customized Remington Rand .45 caliber pistol marked “FAT-1” and a holster marked  “CC-02509355 People of the Philippines vs. Anonuevo” to an undercover police officer.

Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) chief Director Benjamin Magalong said police officers confiscated from Florentino two magazines, 50 .45 caliber bullets, marked money and a motorcycle with a license plate marked “Judiciary.”

In a report to Magalong, the CIDG’s anti-organized crime unit said its operatives received a tip that Florentino was allegedly involved in the theft of firearms from the Quezon City justice hall’s evidence room.

The unit reported that Florentino was selling the evidence to a prospective buyer.

Magalong said Florentino is in the custody of the CIDG and awaiting the charges to be filed against him.
