Pia Lee-Brago - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - Twenty-five overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) returned home yesterday from war-torn Syria, the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) said.

The OFWs arrived at 3:55 p.m. at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport on an Emirates Airlines flight.

The latest batch of returning OFWs brought the total number of Filipinos repatriated from Syria to 5,361.

Of this number, 2,332 were repatriated with the assistance of the Philippine embassy in Beirut.

The Philippine embassy in Damascus continues to remind the Filipino community in Syria to avail themselves of the Philippine government’s mandatory repatriation program.

The airfare of the repatriates was shouldered by the International Organization for Migration in Damascus.
