Barangay chairman kills self

MANILA, Philippines - A barangay chairman who shot himself inside his office in Sampaloc, Manila died in a hospital yesterday.

The remains of Nestor Lacap, chairman of Barangay 509 Zone 50, were brought to the barangay hall from the University of Sto. Tomas Hospital.

Inspector Francis Villanueva of the Manila Police District Station 4 said they are looking at a family problem as the possible reason why Lacap killed himself.

Villanueva said the incident happened at around 11:20 a.m. inside the barangay hall.

A certain Ponching Flores found Lacap bloodied and slumped on the floor.
