Businesswoman slain in QC
MANILA, Philippines - A businesswoman was gunned down outside her house as she was boarding a taxi in Quezon City on Thursday afternoon.
Carmencita Soliman, 53, was shot dead by still unidentified assailants as she stepped out of her house in Barangay Tatalon at around 2:20 p.m., said case investigator Police Officer 2 Louie Serbito.
Soliman’s sister, Catalina, told police she and a male companion were in the taxi waiting for her sister when the attack happened.
She said the assailants – who wore jackets, caps, and masks – appeared as the victim was about to board the taxi. One of the assailants pulled out a handgun and repeatedly shot the victim.
Serbito said the assailants ran off following the shooting. The witnesses rushed Soliman to the nearby Delos Santos Medical Center, where she died at around 3 p.m. that day due to gunshot wounds in the face and back.
Police have yet to determine the motive and the identities of the killers.
