MANILA, Philippines - Two women, alleged motorcycle thieves, were arrested in a sting operation in Paco, Manila Thursday.

Disselle Lacdao, 25, and Anerva de Guzman, 51, were nabbed after blackmailing Irin Saunar, 38, to pay P7,000 in exchange for the return of the motorcycle.

Senior Inspector Rommel Geneblazo said the women were arrested along Pedro Gil street near Quirino Avenue at about 12:40 a.m. after Saunar sought police help.

According to Saunar, his motorcycle (a red Honda XRM with plate number 1393 NE) was stolen while parked in Taguig City on May 14. He told police that someone sent him a text message to meet them at the Philippine National Railways station in Paco and pay P7,000 for the motorcycle.

Geneblazo said the women were nabbed after they received the marked money. He added that they were charged with violating Presidential Decree 1612, which penalizes car theft.
