Chinese nabbed for P40-M shabu

Bebot Sison Jr., Cecille Suerte Felipe - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - Operatives of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) arrested an alleged member of the Hong Kong triad in a buy-bust operation in Greenhills, San Juan yesterday.

Kenny Chua Sy yielded eight kilos of shabu worth around P40 million, CIDG chief Director Benjamin Magalong said.

Magalong said Sy initially agreed to do the drug deal at Quezon City Circle but the suspect later asked the poseur buyer to go to Annapolis, where he was arrested.

“He thought he could get away from our operatives by transferring the venue of the drug deal,” he said.

Operatives of the CIDG-Anti-Transnational Crime Unit led by Senior Superintendent John Guyguyon have been conducting surveillance on Sy prior to his arrest, Magalong said.

The suspect is now being held at the CIDG detention facility facing drug charges.

The confiscated shabu was turned over to the Crime Laboratory for analysis.
