2 dead, 3 hurt in Taguig car crash

MANILA, Philippines - Two persons were killed while three others were hurt when a car slammed into a wall on the northbound lane of C-5 Road in Taguig City early yesterday.

Driver John Carlo Mariano of Bay Breeze Subdivision was reportedly drunk at the time of the accident, according to Mark Joseph Lagen of the city’s Traffic Management Office.

Mariano and passenger Jaime Pardinas, 19, were among those injured. Another injured passenger remains unidentified. They were taken to the Taguig Pateros District Hospital.

Fiona Atina Manalo and Carl John Alamo died on the scene, the Southern Police District (SPD)said.

According to a report received by the SPD, Mariano was allegedly speeding on C-5 Road from the service road when the Toyota Corolla (TSG-287) he was driving crashed into a wall and swerved toward the center island at around 2 a.m.
