American commits suicide in Makati firing range

MANILA, Philippines - An American man committed suicide with a rented gun at an indoor firing range in Makati City yesterday afternoon. 

Jeffrey Allen Klein, 60, from California, went to the range of the Jethro International, Inc. Westpoint Gun Club at the basement of the Makati Cinema Square at past 4 p.m. and rented a 9mm pistol for target practice, Makati police chief Senior Superintendent Manuel Lukban said.

Investigators said Klein bought 50 rounds of ammunition and a target board. After using up the bullets, he called the attendant and asked for another target board.

However, as soon as the range attendant left, Klein reportedly then put the gun to his mouth and fired.

Lukban said there was no foul play as Klein – surveillance footage showed the victim shot himself.
