Motorists urged: Avoid MOA, Roxas Boulevard

Mike Frialde - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - Motorists should steer clear of the SM Mall of Asia (MOA) in Pasay City and Roxas Boulevard in Manila today, the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) said yesterday.

In a traffic advisory, the MMDA said the roads around MOA will be closed to traffic starting at midnight for the evangelical mission of the Iglesia ni Cristo and reopened by 11 a.m.

The roads closed to traffic are the east and westbound lanes of Seaside Boulevard at its intersection with Macapagal Boulevard and the corner of Seaside Boulevard and Diokno street.

However, the north and soundbound lanes of Macapagal Boulevard and Diokno street will remain open to traffic, the MMDA said.

Meanwhile, roads around the Star City complex will be closed to traffic this afternoon for this year’s Aliwan Fiesta.

The MMDA said the Manila City government will close the southbound lane of Roxas Boulevard from Katigbak Drive to P. Ocampo street at exactly 2 p.m.

The MMDA advised motorists to take the following alternate routes: all those coming from the Jones, McArthur and Quezon bridges are advised to take the southbound lane of Roxas Boulevard, turn at the “round table” (Palacio street) straight to Ma. Orosa, right on T.M. Kalaw, left on M.H. Del Pilar, left on Quirino Avenue, right on Mabini or use Taft Avenue to their point of destination.

All motorists coming from northern part of Manila intending to use the southbound lane of Roxas Boulevard from P. Burgos to P. Ocampo shall turn left on P. Burgos, right on Ma. Orosa, right on T.M. Kalaw, left on MH del Pilar, left on Quirino Avenue, right on Mabini or use Taft Avenue to reach their destination.

All motorists coming from adjacent roads from P. Burgos, T.M. Kalaw, UN Avenue and P. Gil should turn left on Quirino Avenue and P. Ocampo shall take Taft Avenue or M.H. Del Pilar to their destination.

All motorists travelling on the westbound lane of Quirino Avenue intending to use the southbound lane of Roxas Boulevard should turn left on Adriatico, right on P. Ocampo, left on F.B. Harrison to their point of destination.
