QC blaze leaves 150 families homeless

Janvic Mateo - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - An hour-long fire that razed a residential community in Tandang Sora, Quezon City at past midnight yesterday left around 150 families homeless.

Superintendent Samuel Tadeo, deputy city fire marshal, said some 50 houses or P500,000 worth of properties were destroyed in the fire along Banlat Road that started at around 1 a.m.

Tadeo said the fire is believed to have originated from the second floor of the house of Clarita Belarmino, 62.

He said they are looking at the possibility that the fire was caused by a lighted candle since the house reportedly had no electricity and that the occupants were using candles.
