Loader caught stealing from luggage in NAIA

Rudy Santos - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - A baggage loader was arrested when he was caught reportedly stealing cell phone accessories from the luggage of a passenger bound for the Middle East at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport Terminal 1 Thursday night.

John Kerwin Yola, 22, was allegedly seen with his right hand in the side compartment of an unlocked bag, Aviation Operations and Management Inc. head Librado Matibag said.

Yola has been working at the NAIA for the past two years.

Matibag said Yola’s fellow workers reportedly saw him and two others stealing an expensive cell phone from a passenger’s check-in luggage in October 2013.

Sources said that on Thursday night, Kerwin was spotted trying to steal from the luggage of a passenger bound for Algiers as two others acted as lookouts.

Yola was brought to the Airport Police Intelligence and Investigation Department prior to the filing of a pilferage charge against him.
