Maynilad seeks tankers for Holy Week rationing

MANILA, Philippines - Maynilad Water Services is asking private firms, local government units and government agencies to lend their water tankers to bring water to over 800 barangays in Metro Manila and Cavite that will experience water service interruption from Holy Wednesday to Black Saturday.

The water supply cutoff is due to the flood interceptor project of the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH).

“The private water vendors in our service area have closed shop and sold off their water trucks. This made the leasing of private water tankers for this interruption practically impossible,” Maynilad corporate communications head Cherubim Mojica said in a statement.

She said Maynilad has so far secured 67 water tankers to ration water to affected customers. However, the company will prioritize those areas in Caloocan, Malabon, Navotas and Manila that will have no water supply for 72 hours straight.

Mojica said Maynilad has pending water tanker requests with Manila Water and other private companies.

She said firms and agencies that would like to lend their water trucks to Maynilad may contact the company through its hotline, 1626.
