Driver sues Makati dad for assault
MANILA, Philippines - A driver of Makati Councilor Nemesio Yabut Jr. filed charges against him yesterday for allegedly beating him up on Monday night.
Antonio Poyatos, 40, filed physical injury and threat charges against Yabut, a councilor of the city’s second district, before the Makati police.
He told police Yabut beat him up along Jupiter street in Barangay Bel-Air at around 9 p.m. Monday after he failed to immediately answer when his boss called up his cell phone. Yabut wanted to be fetched from a bar along Jupiter street, Poyatos said.
According to Poyatos, he failed to answer the call as he was driving Yabut’s Toyota Vios (TIR-712) when the councilor called. He also alleged that Yabut was also drunk when the attack happened.
He added that Yabut also threatened to shoot him. Yabut, he said, only stopped beating him when he begged for forgiveness.
The councilor is a son of former Makati mayor Nemesio Yabut. The STAR tried but failed to get Yabut’s side of the incident.
