Rape-slay victim’s body found under neighbor’s bed

MANILA, Philippines - The body of a 12-year-old girl who had been raped and killed was found under her neighbor’s bed in Tondo, Manila Monday.

Police officers found Josephine Dealogdon’s naked body, wrapped in a curtain, under the bed in an apartment rented by truck helper Evert Espanillo, 29.

Senior Police Officer 1 Richard Escarlan of the Manila Police District’s homicide section said there was blood in Dealogdon’s mouth and she had defense wounds on her neck, face and arms.

Dealogdon was last seen alive at around 7 p.m. on March 30, when her mother asked her to buy mineral water from a nearby store.

Police officers searched Espanillo’s apartment after one of Dealogdon’s friends said she saw the victim with Espanillo just before she went missing.

Espanillo remains at large.
