NAIA on lookout for Ebola-infected travelers

Rudy Santos - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - Quarantine officers at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) terminals are closely monitoring all incoming passengers for fever to prevent the Ebola virus from spreading to the Philippines.

Dr. Noel Ramirez, one of the doctors on duty at the NAIA Terminal 1, said they question travelers with fever on the places they visited during the past 10 days, based on instructions from the Department of Health and the World Health Organization.

“We were advised to be strict in monitoring passengers from all airlines that arrive at NAIA,” he said, noting that the Ebola virus has killed 72 persons in Eastern Guinea and that its neighbor, Senegal, has closed its borders to those coming from the outbreak-stricken country.
