MANILA, Philippines - The Mandaluyong City police is hunting down the driver of a car that hit two siblings jogging along the Makati-Mandaluyong Bridge yesterday morning.

Traffic investigator Senior Police Officer 1 Richard Bumacas said they are coordinating with the Land Transportation Office (LTO) to trace the owner and driver of the gold Honda Civic (VUE-233) that hit Vincent Simon Tan and his sister, Catherine May.

Investigators said the Tan siblings were jogging atop a bridge linking the cities of Mandaluyong and Makati when the wayward vehicle hit them at about 6 a.m.

Witnesses said the Honda Civic was trying to overtake a tricycle but the driver avoided an approaching vehicle, hitting the Tans in the process.

Quoting witnesses, Bumacas said Vincent fell to the ground unconscious while Catherine fell off the bridge.

Instead of stopping, the driver of the vehicle sped off. However, a witness, Owen Pueda, managed to jot down the Civic’s license plate.

Bystanders rushed the Tans to the Mandaluyong City Medical Center for treatment. They were later transferred to the St. Luke’s Medical Center.
