Guard kills teen, hurts another

MANILA, Philippines - A teenager died while a 10-year-old boy was seriously wounded when a security guard accidentally fired his shotgun in Malabon on Monday afternoon.

Roland Dagudoy, 17, was pronounced dead on arrival at the Tondo General Hospital. Christian Santos was rushed to the Jose Reyes Memorial Medical Center where he is still under observation, said Malabon police chief Senior Superintendent Severino Abad.

Police said the victims and their friends were taking a bath at a river near DRB Compound when Jose Genorga, 25, fired his shotgun, hitting the two in the process.

The suspect surrendered to the police after the incident.

Genorga told probers the shotgun he was holding went off after he tripped.
