Woman files rape charge vs Vhong

MANILA, Philippines - A woman has filed rape charges against television host Vhong Navarro with the Pasig City prosecutor’s office Wednesday.

In her affidavit, obtained by Pilipino Star Ngayon and Pang Masa columnist Tony Calvento, the woman – reportedly a beauty pageant contestant – claimed Navarro raped and threatened her on April 24, 2010.

The woman said on that day, a female friend of Navarro asked for her number upon the request of the “It’s Showtime” host. Later that day, she said she received a text message from someone who introduced himself as Navarro and asked if she could go up to her hotel room, but she refused.

The woman said she agreed to meet with Navarro outside the hotel for coffee.

At around 10:30 p.m., the woman claimed Navarro sent her a text message, saying he would pick her up a few meters from the hotel to avoid being seen by any of the other beauty pageant contestants or the public.

She said Navarro rolled down the window of his car, a white four-door vehicle with dark tints, to show her his face. The woman said he wore a cap and smiled at her.

The woman said she got into his car, and they listened to music, talked and exchanged jokes. They even went to a convenience store to buy food.

She said that after some time, Navarro parked his car under a tree near the hotel. She said she told him she could not stay long since contestants are under a curfew.

It was then that Navarro reportedly started groping her, then forced her to perform oral sex on him as she begged him to stop.

The woman said he stopped when she started to cry, but then told her to keep silent or his bodyguard-driver would take care of her. She said he then raped her.

After the alleged attack, the woman said Navarro dropped her off at the hotel, told her to keep quiet and be thankful that she was “famous” because “Vhong Navarro had sex with her.”
