Ramil Bajo, Rey Galupo - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - A namesake of Hollywood superstar Jackie Chan and his father died after they were trapped inside their burning house in Caloocan City last Thursday.

Arson investigators said Chan, 26, was sleeping when the fire broke out.

His father, Jose, 63, managed to get out of the house but he returned to rescue his son.

Responding firemen retrieved the victims’ bodies after containing the fire.

Fire Officer 2 Alvin Culianan said the fire reached the fourth alarm and razed at least 30 houses, leaving 90 families homeless.

Damage to property was estimated at P2 million.

Two firefighters lost consciousness while trying to put out the fire. A village watchman was hurt in the incident.

Arson investigators have yet to determine the cause of the fire.
