MANILA, Philippines - A former inmate of the Manila City Jail was shot dead in San Andres, Manila early yesterday morning.
Ex-convict John Julius Pamintuan, 24, a resident of Radium street, died from gunshot wounds in his head and arms.
Onlookers rushed Pamintuan to Sta. Ana Hospital but their effort proved futile after the victim died while undergoing treatment at 4:52 a.m.
The victim was walking along Zobel street at around 1:30 a.m. when unidentified men shot him, according to Police Officer 2 Michael Marragun of the Manila Police District homicide section.
Police have yet to establish the motive for the attack.
Residents in the area said they heard gunshots and saw the victim bathing in his own blood.
The victim’s father, Rodrigo, said his son served time at the Manila City Jail for robbery.
