QC dad seeks proper disposal of used oil

MANILA, Philippines - A Quezon City councilor has filed a proposed ordinance that seeks to prohibit the disposal of used fats, oils and greases (UFOG) directly into trash, drains, sewers or any other waterways in the city.

In his draft measure, third district Councilor Jose Mario Don de Leon tasked the city’s environment protection and waste management department to organize a task force that will collect UFOG from households and business establishments.

De Leon said that modern technology now allows the recycling of used cooking oil and convert it into bio-diesel.
