Man takes 6 kids hostage

MANILA, Philippines - A 30-year-old man was arrested after taking his three children and three nephews hostage in Bagong Silang, Caloocan City Sunday night.

Emmanuel Palasol was drunk when he came home at around 7:30 p.m. When he did not see his wife, Emily, he took the children hostage, according to Superintendent Ferdinand del Rosario, officer-in-charge of the North Caloocan police.

Palasol’s neighbors called the police. The suspect told police officers he will only free the children if they locate Emily, who he accused of having an affair.

Emily told police she was not seeing another man but admitted that she left the house because they often quarreled over her husband’s suspicions.

Palasol, who surrendered after talking to his wife, was charged with child abuse and alarm and scandal.
