UNA to Comelec: Dump PCOS machines
MANILA, Philippines - The United Nationalist Alliance (UNA) asked yesterday the Commission on Elections (Comelec’s) Advisory Council to dump the allegedly flawed Precinct Count Optical Scan (PCOS) machines to maintain integrity in the democratic elections.
UNA secretary general Toby Tiangco said it is disturbing for the Comelec to be thinking of using the current set of counting machines for the 2016 national elections.
“It’s about time that we start clean and purchase new machines with a new, more reliable and dependable system that can correctly count,†he said.
Tiangco said the Comelec must abandon the idea of using the faulty automated PCOS machines and start looking for more secure, dependable and cost-effective technology hardware and software.
