Ex-CIDG agent tagged as carjack gang chief
MANILA, Philippines - A former Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) agent, identified as a leader of a carjacking gang, was arrested in Taal, Batangas yesterday.
Jay Ar Lim – who was a CIDG-Community Investigative Support agent in Sucat, Parañaque City – allegedly leads a syndicate operating in Metro Manila and Southern Tagalog provinces, according to Batangas police chief Senior Superintendent Jireh Omega Fidel.
He said Batangas police officers recovered from Lim’s possession a stolen Toyota Fortuner, different police uniforms and identification cards identifying him as a police officer with the rank of Senior Police Officer 3.
Lim and six others were arrested in a series of raids that also included Laguna and Manila.
Danilo Domingo, 50; Mhervin Quimino Maco, 30; and Benny Maco were arrested in Sta. Cruz, Manila on Monday, Calabarzon police director Chief Superintendent Jesus Gatchalian said.
Three other suspects, whom Gatchalian did not identify, were arrested in Biñan, Laguna Monday.
In the Manila raid, a stolen Mitsubishi truck (UCB-997) owned by Remigio Lanceta was recovered. The truck was carjacked by unidentified armed men on Dec. 13, 2013 in Calamba.
The truck had been converted into a firetruck by the time it was found at a compound owned by a barangay councilor on Oroquieta street in Tayuman, Sta. Cruz, said Calamba police chief Superintendent Marvin Saro. He declined to identify the barangay councilor.
