NCRPO sacks 227 cops

Non Alquitran - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - A total of 227 police officers and enlisted personnel of the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) have been relieved from their posts for not performing their tasks.

NCRPO chief Director Carmelo Valmoria said majority of the sacked policemen abandoned their assignments in malls, commercial centers and transport terminals last December.

The relieved officers and non-commissioned officers, mostly from the five police districts in Metro Manila, will be transferred to the NCRPO headquarters at Camp Bagong Diwa in Taguig for re-training, according to NCRPO deputy chief for operations Chief Superintendent Dennis Peña.

To prevent policemen from abandoning their posts, Valmoria assigned inspectors from the NCRPO and the police districts to check their presence in areas assigned to them.

The NCRPO chief said those found guilty of abandoning their posts would face administrative charges, like simple neglect of duty that carries a penalty of suspension without pay.

A suspended police officer will be denied bonuses for the whole year, Valmoria said.

In an interview during his visit to the Eastern Police District on Monday, Valmoria said he would not hesitate to dismiss from the police service policemen involved in any wrongdoing.

“We have no place for erring policemen in our ranks. They should be kicked out because they are a disgrace to the police organization,” he said.

Valmoria pinned medals to four operatives of the District Tactical Motorcycle Riders who arrested two bogus policemen in Pasig City recently.

The NCRPO chief urged the public to cooperate in their efforts to cleanse their ranks of scalawags as he assured them that their identities would be kept secret.
