Fire destroys 5 homes in QC

MANILA, Philippines - Children playing with a lighter reportedly caused a fire that destroyed five homes in Barangay Krus na Ligas, Quezon City yesterday afternoon.

City fire marshal Superintendent Jesus Fernandez said no one was hurt in the fire but the blaze left eight families homeless.

The flames reportedly started at the house of Nicolo Lego at around 2:30 p.m. Two children were allegedly playing with a lighter in the house, Fernandez said.

Some P350,000 worth of properties were destroyed in the fire, which reached fourth alarm before it was put out before 3 p.m.
