MANILA, Philippines - A businesswoman was ambushed by a motorcycle-riding attacker as she was driving to her office in Quezon City on Wednesday afternoon.
A bullet in the head killed Arlene Garcia, 39, as she was behind the wheel of her Chrysler Town and Country sport utility vehicle (SUV).
The gunman shot Garcia from the left side of the vehicle, Inspector Elmer Monsalve said.
They are still investigating possible motives for the attack as the victim’s family claimed she had no known enemies, he said.
Police officers recovered two big sacks of Christmas gifts, a tool box with gadgets and an emergency kit from Garcia’s SUV.
The ambush happened at past 3 p.m. along Calle Industria, Barangay Bagumbayan in Libis, at the boundary of Quezon City and Pasig City.
Garcia, a resident of Pasig City, was then driving her company-issued SUV to her office at a trading firm where she worked as a business manager.
A motorcycle drove up to the driver’s side and the gunman fired a single shot at Garcia.
The gunman then sped off, leaving Garcia to struggle in controlling her SUV in the middle of the road. The vehicle stopped in the middle of the road, with the vehicle’s automatic gear in “park†mode.
