Cop slain in Taguig

MANILA, Philippines - A policeman assigned with the Quezon City police was gunned down in Barangay Central Signal Village, Taguig City yesterday morning.

Police Officer 1 Aldrin Lagwerta Castro, 25, of Mauling Creek in Lower Bicutan, was in uniform when he was shot in the head by a man on a motorcycle at the corner of MRT Avenue and Castañas street at around 5:30 a.m., city police chief Senior Superintendent Arthur Felix Asis said.

The gunman took Castro’s service firearm as he fled from the scene, he added.

Asis said the Taguig police has launched a manhunt for Castro’s killer as investigators try to find out the motive for the shooting.
