UST med student found dead

MANILA, Philippines - A medical student of the University of Santo Tomas was found dead inside his room in Sampaloc, Manila Tuesday.

Kelvin Discutido may have been dead for three days before his body was discovered, police said.

Senior Police Officer 1 Jonathan Moreno said Discutido’s body was discovered about 2:30 p.m. by his fellow medical student Mark Vincent Dimayacyac, 21.

Moreno said Dimayacyac decided to check on Discutido, a sophomore medical student, after the latter missed school for two days.

Dimayacyac asked Elisa Mahusay, caretaker of Discutido’s boarding house, to accompany him to his friend’s room. Upon detecting a foul smell coming from Discutido’s room, they sought the help of barangay officials.

The cause of Discutido’s death has yet to be established. His remains were brought to the Harold Funeral Homes.
