Hit-and-run victim found in car that killed him

Janvic Mateo - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - A man, believed to be a victim of a “hit-and-run,” was found dead in a cab suspected to be the same vehicle that killed him in Quezon City Friday night.

Inspector Elmer Monsalve, head of the homicide investigation section of the Quezon City Police District, said they have yet to identify the victim, who was described to be in his 50s.

Monsalve said the man was found dead at past 10 p.m. at the backseat of a Mama cab (TWS-729) abandoned in front of the Quezon City General Hospital.

Monsalve said the man sustained injuries in the left shoulder, head and hip. He said the man may have been hit by the taxi as the cab had a smashed windshield and dents on the front hood.

He said they had yet to identify the driver whom he already considers as a suspect and may face murder charges for abandoning his victim.

He believes that after the cabbie hit the man, the suspect rushed the victim to the hospital. The man was first noticed by hospital guard Rogelio Oliva, who was doing his rounds.
