Mike Frialde - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) collected 42 truckloads of garbage from various parts of Metro Manila following the New Year’s Eve revelry.

MMDA Metro Parkway Clearing Group chief Francis Martinez said yesterday the agency assisted various local governments and collected 42 truckloads of trash, which is equivalent to 216 metric tons.

Martinez said the trash was collected in Balintawak and along Commonwealth Avenue both in Quezon City; Baclaran in Parañaque City and Quiapo in Manila.

”As of now mopping-up teams continue to clean up garbage along national roads like EDSA and C-5,” he said.

Martinez added that most of the collected trash were crumpled plastic bags, spoiled food and firecracker wrappers.
