Businessman gunned down in Malate

MANILA, Philippines - A 70-year-old businessman, who just returned from Hong Kong, was shot dead in Malate, Manila by two men on a motorcycle yesterday.

Victor Mendoza was walking toward a restaurant along Pedro Gil street at past noon when the gunmen shot him five times in the head and several times in the body.

He was rushed to Manila Doctors Hospital but was declared dead on arrival.

Investigators suspect that the gunmen were hired killers because Mendoza’s belongings were intact.
