Fire hits BIR building in Caloocan

MANILA, Philippines - A fire reportedly caused by defective Christmas lights broke out at the fourth floor of the Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) building along EDSA in Caloocan City on Christmas Day.

No one was reported injured in the two-hour blaze that reached first alarm and arson investigators have yet to give details on the damage to property.

According to reports, the security guards detailed at the office of the district director located on the fourth floor of the building turned on the lights of the Christmas tree shortly after 9 a.m.

The building’s alarm system was activated at about 10 a.m. but responding firemen arrived and the flames were immediately contained.

The firemen declared that the blaze  under control at 11:49 a.m.
