QC residents protest scrapping of midnight mass

Charmie Joy Pagulong - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - Some residents of Talayan Village in Quezon City are protesting a parish priest’s decision to cancel the Dec. 24 midnight mass at the village chapel.

They said the priest told them to attend mass at the San Pedro Bautista church instead of the chapel. They said the priest also cancelled masses in other chapels covered by the parish.

In a statement sent to The STAR, the village homeowners said transferring the mass on the last day of the nine-day misa de gallo would mean there would not be enough space at the church to accommodate all the parishioners.

The homeowners said they have sent a formal letter of appeal for the parish office to reverse the decision but their request went unheeded.
