Reinir Padua - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - Around 100 families were left homeless after a fire broke out at Barangay Old Balara, Quezon City early morning yesterday.

No one was hurt in the fire, which razed 32 houses and destroyed P2.5 million worth of properties, Quezon City deputy fire marshal Superintendent Samuel Tadeo said.

Tadeo said the flames were believed have originated from the two-story home of Esperanza Pael along Luzon Avenue. No one was in the second-floor room when the flames broke out at past 4 a.m., he said.

The fire reached fourth alarm before firefighters put the blaze under control at around 5:28 a.m. They put out the last of the flames at around 5:56 a.m.

Tadeo said they were still investigating what caused the fire.
