4 MPD station chiefs axed
MANILA, Philippines - Four station commanders of the Manila Police District (MPD) were sacked yesterday for allegedly scoring low in their performance review.
Superintendents Ricardo Layug of Sta. Cruz, Wilson Doromal of Binondo, Orlando Mirando Jr. of Ermita and Amante Daro of Sta. Mesa will be replaced by Superintendents Aldrin Gran, Raymund Liguden, Albert Baroot and Fernando Ofelano, respectively.
MPD director Chief Superintendent Isagani Genabe said the four officials got grades that are below the normal standard for station commanders.
In July, Genabe gave all station commanders 100 days to prove their worth. The result of the evaluation was expected to be out last October.
Genabe denied politics had a hand in Layug’s relief. Layug was the lead policeman who arrested Vice Mayor Isko Moreno during a fund-raising bingo game in Sta. Cruz during the midterm election campaign.
Layug, he said, failed to solve the crimes in his area.
