Man slain in Malabon

MANILA, Philippines - Police officers in Malabon are trying to identify three men who were seen stabbing and shooting a man in Malabon City before dawn yesterday.

Danilo Mercado – identified by a police clearance certificate found in his pocket – was killed by three men in Maysilo at around 5 a.m., police said.

Domingo del Valle, 59, a caretaker of one of the houses in the area, told police he saw three men in a white vehicle shouting at the victim before shooting him.

The men sped away, leaving the victim behind with gunshot and stab wounds.

Investigators recovered five bullet shells and a deformed bullet from a .45 caliber pistol.

Police officers said they are looking into Mercado’s background to get leads on his killers.
