PDEA gets new firearms, vehicles

MANILA, Philippines - The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) has beefed up its armory of firearms and fleet of vehicles.

PDEA director general Undersecretary Arturo Cacdac on Monday led the blessing of new 40 units of caliber 9mm Nano Beretta pistols, 118 units of caliber .45 Norinco pistols, an Isuzu Crosswind and a Honda XRM 125cc motorcycle.

“The firearms are the newest addition to PDEA’s arsenal. These will revitalize our weapons to counter threats in drug law enforcement and provide our anti-drug operatives more leverage in defending themselves during actual combat engagements, if the need arises,” Cacdac said.

The agency had earlier acquired protective equipment consisting of 217 modular tactical bullet-proof vests, 89 sando-type bullet proof vests, 153 Kevlar tactical helmets and various ammunition.

“The additional equipment will make us better equipped in waging an all-out war against illegal drugs,” the PDEA chief said.
