Man poses as NYC employee
MANILA, Philippines - A man was arrested Friday for reportedly posing as an employee of the National Youth Commission (NYC) and a staff of Sen. Juan Edgardo Angara to solicit money.
Bryan Lopez, 28, was arrested based on the complaint of the NYC, which had received reports from different restaurants and shops that the suspect had been using the agency’s name, said Quezon City Police District (QCPD) director Chief Superintendent Richard Albano.
On Nov. 26, the agency received a report from a restaurant at a mall in Caloocan City. The shop had asked if the agency had an employee named Marlon Angara, who had reportedly asked for food packs to be used for a program of the NYC. The shop said the man had also allegedly used the name of the senator.
The agency eventually also found out on social media had been using different names and had used the same modus in Nueva Ecija and Aurora.
The agency again received a call yesterday from a restaurant along Timog Avenue, which had mentioned the name of Marlon Angara, then at the restaurant ordering food for the NYC.
QCPD Station 10 police officers went to the restaurant and arrested Lopez.
